Tagline Fonts

I decided to change the tagline content and font on my front page:

This was the original line and font chosen. I liked it because it created a less formal feeling to the cover of the magazine. I later realised that the use of the pronoun 'Their' can falsely advertise the single artist as a band, or multiple.

I liked this font, but not the shadow/side parts of the letters.

I also liked this font, but because of the transparency of the contents of the letters, when zoomed out, it appears to not be complete, as though someone had attempted to colour it in, and then stopped half way and didn't continue.

Final Decision:

I liked that the font wasn't 100% identical to the others used in my magazine, but still showed an efficient house style on the front cover.

Magazine Headline Fonts

I experimented with different styles of text, but a lot made the magazine cool young and childish.

Bold styles made the magazine cover look more professional, but semi-boring.

I then experimented with more varied styles, but the amount of detail in the text didn't fit with the image.

I found that the Segoe UI font fitted well with the image, and also looked good behind the model. Some of the fonts looked good, but then when it was put behind the model, the detail was hidden and looked more plain than it actually was.

Unused Photos For My Magazine: Selective Colour

Selective colour is an interesting way to make certain parts of your image stand out or be emphasised. Because of the lighting conditions, the parts which are in selective colour appear to be photoshopped into the image. The lips in the first image appear brighter, as though the model is wearing makeup, but in reality, it was just cold. The money in the second image appears to be edited into the image, but again, it is just because of the well lit location used in the shoot.

Cover alignment

I have decided to advertise bands that will be features in my magazine, by listing them on the front cover. I have used this screenshot as an example of what I am aiming to do:

I would like the colour and font to be all the same, with the number of letters in each band in ascending order. This means that it will wrap around the model in the photo on my cover.
